Shortly after 4:30, most customers affected by the outage received notification that power had been restored.

According to Entergy's outage map, approximately 52 customers were still without power at that time, with an estimated restoration time of 6 p.m.

Wasson attributed the remaining outages to independent cases not associated with the substation outage.

A large power outage affecting the west side of El Dorado and into Union County was caused by a transformer malfunction, said Entergy customer service representative Chris Wasson.

“It’s a bushing at the top of that transformer – you know how mechanical things are,” Wasson said, explaining that the bushing is the primary wire connecting the transformer to the power system.

The power outage is affecting all customers west of College Avenue, Wasson said. Entergy staff is currently working to fix the problem, and Wasson said he expects power restoration for those customers no later than 5 p.m. The Entergy outage map on their website says power could be restored by 4 p.m.

“The five o’clock time frame is kind of our worst case scenario,” Wasson said. “They’re on it as we speak. There’s no delay in working on it.”
